Probably this is the first time when a cricket event has attracted big tycoons like Mukesh Ambani, DLF, GMR, Ness Wadia and not to mention the Kingfisher owner Vijay Mallya as investors.
Even though, ICL was the first mover in this game, but for some official and non-official reasons, IPL has seen much-much more success than its rival sibling. IPL seems like a big tornado of cricket passion running all over the country, churning loads of money.

So much so has been added to it that cricket seems to be just another aspect of it, as there are other aspects like Bollywood attraction, Industry leaders, Loads of money, high media coverage, billion eyeballs following it and not to mention events like slapping. With the success of IPL and the earlier event of ICC World Cup, it is clear that definitely Twenty20 format is here to stay. It has been liked by people because of its added glamor to the cricket, has more action than ODI and promises to be a fast and furious form of cricket.
